Busisiwe Trinity Mtshali is a South African actress known for her versatile performances across various television series and films. She gained widespread recognition for her role as Thandeka in the SABC1 sitcom ‘Thandeka’s Diary’. Early Life and Education
Busisiwe Mtshali was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. She thrived in the fast-paced city life and developed a passion for acting at an early age. Busisiwe completed her tertiary education at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she earned an Honors Degree in Dramatic Arts in 2013. Her acting career, however, began before she completed her academic studies, as she was able to balance both her education and her growing passion for the performing arts.
Career
Busisiwe’s career took off while she was still a student, demonstrating her dedication and love for the craft. She began gaining attention for her work in ‘Lokshin’ bioscopes (short, low-budget South African films) and soon moved on to mainstream roles.
In 2012, Busisiwe landed her first major television role as Shirley Dlamini, a working girl in the Mzansi Magic crime drama ‘Mshika-shika’. This performance helped her establish herself in the industry.

In 2014, she starred as Fikile Mathubela in the second season of ‘Mzansi Love: Kasi Style’, an anthology romance series on The following year, she had a guest appearance as DJ Gugs on the popular SABC3 soapie ‘Isidingo’.
Her breakthrough role came in 2015 when she began portraying Thandeka Zulu in the SABC1 sitcom ‘Thandeka’s Diary’. As the lead character, she played a curious and intelligent high school student who often found herself in tricky situations. This role solidified her reputation in the industry, and she continued to star in the series as it returned for subsequent seasons.
Busisiwe has also appeared in other notable productions such as ‘Lockdown’, ‘Ring of Lies‘, and ‘Scandal!’ In 2019, she booked her first international feature film, which followed the story of Muslim girls rescued from a Boko Haram camp. This role further expanded her acting range and garnered her recognition at both local and international film festivals.
